Shopify Plus migration assessment

Free migration assessment

Know your timeline, cost band and risks before you commit. Tell us about your Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce or WooCommerce store, and within 2 business days an OUXP engineer – not a salesperson – sends a written Shopify Plus migration assessment. You keep it either way, and it says so plainly if migrating isn’t your best move yet.

What’s in your assessment?

A written mini-assessment from the engineer who reviewed your store. It’s yours to keep, share with your team or take to another agency.

  • 01

    Platform verdict

Whether Shopify Plus is the right target for your setup – or whether standard Shopify would do, or staying where you are for now makes more sense.

  • 02

    Timeline band

Standard, mid-complexity or enterprise, placed within the published range for your platform – 8–24+ weeks from Magento, for example, or 3–10 weeks from WooCommerce.

  • 03

    Cost band

A realistic range for your scope, not a teaser number – placed within the price range we publish for your platform, from $25,000–$60,000 for WooCommerce to $80,000–$250,000+ for Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

  • 04

    2–3 risk flags

The things most likely to complicate your migration in particular, such as option matrices, custom checkout logic, ERP flows or SEO exposure.

  • 05

    App and integration map

Which of your extensions, apps and connected systems have a direct Shopify equivalent, and which need to be rebuilt.

  • 06

A walkthrough call, if you want one

30 minutes with the engineer who wrote the assessment, to go through the findings and your team’s questions.

How does the assessment work?

About 3 minutes of your time, then a written answer within 2 business days. Nothing after that happens unless you ask for it.

  1. 1

    Send the form

Four required fields – name, work email, store URL and current platform – and three optional ones: what’s driving the change, your target timing and anything else we should know. No logins, passwords or data exports.

    About 3 minutes

  2. 2

    An engineer reviews your store

We analyze your storefront, stack and catalog from the outside, together with your answers to the form.

    No store access needed

  3. 3

    The assessment arrives

Verdict, timeline and cost bands, risk flags and the app and integration map, written up and sent to your inbox.

    Within 2 business days

  4. 4

    Optional call

30 minutes with the engineer who wrote it, only if you want it. We don’t chase.

    Only if you ask

A band now, a fixed price when you’re ready

The free assessment gives you bands, not a quote. If you decide to go ahead, a deeper pass with read-only access under NDA turns them into a fixed price and timeline, agreed in writing before any work starts.

Is the assessment right for your store?

It’s built for stores on Magento 1 or 2, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce or WooCommerce that are weighing a move to Shopify Plus.

A good fit if…

  • A license renewal or hosting contract is coming up – ask early: Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and larger Magento moves should start 6–9 months before the date, BigCommerce and WooCommerce moves at least 3 months before, so the assessment, a fixed quote and the build all fit in time
  • Your platform is at end of life or hard to keep secure – Magento 1 has had no official patches since June 30, 2020
  • Patches, upgrades and extension conflicts eat the budget meant for growth
  • Launching a new market, a B2B channel or a checkout change takes custom development every time
  • You’re not ready to commit, but you need real numbers for next year’s budget or a business case

Start somewhere else if…

  • Your store already runs on Shopify – a store audit ($2,500 flat, report in 5 business days) is the right review
  • Something is broken right now and costing sales – go straight to emergency support or call +1 (818) 651-3226
  • You’d rather talk it through before sending anything – book a strategy call with an engineer

Start your assessment

Four required fields and three optional ones, about 3 minutes. An engineer reviews your store from the outside and sends your written assessment within 2 business days.

  • No store access, passwords or data exports
  • Yours to keep, whether or not you hire OUXP
  • An optional call afterwards – we don’t chase

Prefer email? Send your store URL and current platform to hello@ouxp.com.

This form needs JavaScript to send. Email hello@ouxp.com or call +1 (818) 651-3226 instead.

All fields are required unless marked (optional).

The live storefront we’ll review.

Not listed? Choose “Other”.

For example a license renewal date, B2B accounts and pricing, an ERP or custom checkout logic. Up to 5,000 characters.

Please do not include passwords or customer information.

No store access is needed for this first pass. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the form for spam. Privacy policy

What could your migration cost, and how long would it take?

Your assessment places your store within the range for its platform – the same timelines and prices as on our migration pages. Complexity moves a store through its range more than catalog size does.

  • Typical ranges, not quotes: the price and timeline are fixed in writing before work starts.
  • SEO preservation – URL map, 301s, metadata, structured data and post-launch monitoring – is always included.
  • Not in these figures: the Shopify Plus subscription (from $2,300/month on a three-year term or $2,500/month on a one-year term, as of October 2026) and app subscriptions.
  • On another platform? Choose “Other” in the form and tell us what you run.

What do the risk flags look for?

Moving data is rarely what derails a migration. Your assessment names the 2–3 issues most likely to complicate yours, so they are scoped before a quote – not discovered halfway through the build. These are the kinds of issues it looks for.

  • 01

Products that outgrow Shopify’s three options

Shopify allows up to 2,048 variants per product but only three options, such as size, color and material. Products with more options, or very large option matrices, need a new product model – split listings, metafields or fewer combinations – before any data moves.

  • 02

Checkout logic that has to be rebuilt

On Shopify Plus you don’t edit checkout code: custom discount, shipping and payment rules move to Shopify Functions, and extra fields or content in the checkout steps move to Checkout UI extensions. The flag shows how much of your current checkout logic that affects.

  • 03

    ERP and other integration flows

Orders, inventory and pricing that sync with an ERP, PIM, OMS or 3PL must be reconnected and tested before cutover, and each connection moves the price. The app and integration map shows which have a direct Shopify equivalent and which need a rebuild.

  • 04

    SEO exposure

Product and category URLs change, because Shopify uses fixed /products/ and /collections/ paths. Stores with many ranking pages or filter URLs carry the most risk – which is why a per-pattern 301 map, carried-over metadata and post-launch monitoring are part of every migration.

Why trust a free assessment?

It’s written by the people who would do the work, drawn from figures you can check, and willing to tell you not to move.

  • Written by senior engineers

The engineer who reviews your store writes the assessment and leads the call if you want one – someone who has built on the platform you’re leaving, not a salesperson.

About OUXP: 15+ years, 300+ projects delivered

  • Grounded in published ranges

Your bands come from the timelines and price ranges shown above and on our migration pages – not numbers invented for each lead – so you can hold the assessment to them.

Five migration paths, with their ranges

  • Willing to say “stay”

When migrating doesn’t pay off yet, the assessment says so and explains why. Our platform comparison guides are written the same way, with clear criteria for staying put.

Questions about the free assessment

Questions about migrations themselves – cost, timelines, SEO – are answered on each of our Shopify Plus migration pages. Something else? Ask an engineer.

Is the assessment really free – what’s the catch?

Yes, it’s free, and the written assessment is yours whether or not you hire OUXP – keep it, share it with your team or take it to another agency. There’s no contract and no payment details to give. The only catch is a bet on our side: an honest first look wins us the projects that fit and saves everyone time on the ones that don’t.

Are we committing to anything by sending the form?

No. Sending the form commits you to nothing, and nothing is scheduled or invoiced afterwards. The 30-minute walkthrough call is optional and happens only if you ask for it – we don’t chase. If you later want a fixed price and timeline, that comes from a separate, deeper pass with read-only access under NDA, and you decide whether to start it.

Do you need access to our store?

Not for the assessment. The engineer works from your live storefront and your answers in the form, so no admin login, password or data export is needed. Read-only access comes in only for the deeper pass that turns the bands into a fixed quote, and that access is arranged with you under NDA. Please don’t send passwords through the form.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes – we can sign your NDA before you share store access or confidential details. The free first pass doesn’t need anything confidential: the engineer reads your public storefront and only what you write in the form. The deeper pass that turns your bands into a fixed quote uses read-only access, so it always runs under NDA. If you need an NDA first, mention it under “Anything we should know?” in the form.

What do you need from us?

Only four things are required: your name, work email, store URL and current platform – about 3 minutes. The optional answers tighten your bands, and the notes field helps most: a license or hosting renewal date, whether you sell B2B with company pricing, the systems your store syncs with (ERP, PIM, OMS or 3PL) and any custom checkout logic. Please leave out passwords and customer information.

What if you tell us not to migrate?

Then you’ll have the reasons in writing. It happens – typically when your current platform costs don’t yet outweigh the cost of migrating, or when a contract renewal date makes waiting the smarter move. If standard Shopify would serve you better than Shopify Plus, the assessment says that too. That answer costs us a project and earns us a bookmark, and we’re fine with the trade.

How is this different from the free audits other agencies offer?

It’s written, it’s specific to your store, and it commits to numbers – a timeline band and a cost band, with the risk flags and app map behind them – instead of ending with “let’s hop on a call to discuss.” The engineer who wrote it is the one you would talk to, and the bands come from the ranges we publish on our migration pages.

We’re mid-contract with Adobe Commerce or Salesforce – is it too early for an assessment?

No – the earlier the better. To launch before renewal, start the migration 6–9 months before the renewal date: Adobe Commerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud migrations take 10–24+ weeks, and that window holds the assessment, the fixed quote, the build and a launch away from peak trading, so you don’t end up paying for two platforms. The assessment also tells you whether an exit before renewal is realistic for your scope, and which risks could stretch the timeline.
