About OUXP

The engineering team behind the storefronts

OUXP is a Shopify Plus agency specializing in enterprise migrations from Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce and WooCommerce – plus CRO, theme customization, monthly retainers and 24/7 emergency support. Founded in 2011 in Los Angeles, we work with mid-market, enterprise and B2B brands across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Built on the projects others turned down

We were building enterprise commerce before Shopify Plus existed. Three dates explain how two people in Los Angeles became the team merchants call when other developers say no.

  1. 2011

    Two people in Los Angeles

OUXP started as a web designer and a developer, building sites for anyone who needed one.

The work that stuck was the hard work: enterprise Magento installs with custom everything, Salesforce implementations and stores other developers had walked away from.

  2. May 2019

    Shopify Partner

OUXP joined Shopify’s partner program, and we’ve been a Shopify Plus Partner since 2019. Years on Magento and Salesforce became our edge in migrations: we already know the data model, URLs and custom logic of the platform you’re leaving.

  3. Today

    300+ projects later

Clients still bring us the projects they’ve been told can’t be done, and senior engineers across frontend, backend, integrations and performance take them on.

The work centers on Shopify and Shopify Plus: moving stores off five other platforms, then keeping them fast, converting and running.

What hasn’t changed since 2011

Two people became a team and the platforms changed, but the standard didn’t: get it done properly, tell the client the truth, and answer the phone when something breaks.

Why hire OUXP over another Shopify agency?

Six reasons, each with a proof line – the reviews behind three of them are on Shopify’s Partner Directory, not on a page we edit.

  • Depth on six platforms, not one

15+ years of commerce engineering on Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Shopify. We map your data model, URL structure and custom logic before anything moves.

How a Magento migration runs: seven steps, each checked

  • Problems other developers couldn’t solve

A central inventory system for a custom setup, gated trade pricing, a Recharge problem other developers struggled with, stores mid-rescue. Clients come to us after being told it can’t be done – those are the projects we take.

Read it in clients’ own words

  • Rated by the merchants who hired us

Shopify’s Partner Directory only lets merchants who have worked with us leave a rating, and the reviews are published there, not on a page we edit.

  • An engineer replies, not a salesperson

Every request – from a retainer client or a first-time inquiry – gets its first reply from someone who can read the code. The emergency line is open 24/7.

  • Client relationships that run for years

Many clients stay with us long after launch, so the engineers fixing your store next year already know its codebase. Transient Specialists has worked with us over several years, and Restokit says it will keep going.

  • AI-accelerated, senior-reviewed

AI tooling takes the slow, repetitive parts of a project, so engineer hours go to the decisions. A senior engineer reviews every AI-assisted change, and nothing reaches your live store until you approve it.

What is it like to work with OUXP?

Six commitments and the terms behind them, from a $500 theme change to a six-month migration.

  • 01

A fixed price in writing before work starts

We look before we quote. The scope says what will be delivered, what it depends on and how the result will be checked – then the price is fixed. Retainers are a fixed monthly fee, and one-time emergency work is billed by the hour.

    Theme work
Most single changes quoted within 1 business day
    Store audit
$2,500 flat, report in 5 business days
    Migration
Free assessment with cost bands, then a fixed quote
    Emergency, no retainer
    $250/hour, 2-hour minimum

Nothing touches your live store until you approve it

Work happens in a preview theme or on staging, in steps you review as working pages. Every release has a rollback plan, and afterwards we watch orders, errors and page speed.

On a retainer, you see where every hour goes

Retainer clients get a monthly report: work completed, hours used and what we recommend next. Monitoring, reporting and account calls don’t use your hours.

    Unused hours
    Roll over one month
    Terms

Your code is yours – all of it

Theme customizations, custom apps, Shopify Functions and integrations we build belong to you; third-party themes and apps stay under their own licenses. Any hosting or running costs for a custom app are agreed in writing before we build it.

    At handover
Documentation to run it or pass it on

One team, from design to integrations

Design, theme development, custom apps, AI features, integrations and performance sit with the same senior team. The person designing your product page works next to the engineer who knows what your ERP sync can deliver – and when something breaks, there’s no second vendor to blame.

The honest answer, even when it costs us the work

If standard Shopify is enough, we say so. If a theme can do the job, we won’t sell you a headless build. If your current platform still fits, the free migration assessment will tell you to stay.

Is OUXP the right fit for your store?

We’re built for mid-market and enterprise brands, fast-growing DTC brands and B2B sellers with complex stores – most often in industrial and manufacturing, health and wellness, luxury, fashion and beauty. If the ‘Not the right fit’ list sounds like you, we’ll tell you on the first call.

A good fit if…

  • You sell on Shopify or Shopify Plus, or plan to move to Shopify Plus from Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce or WooCommerce
  • Your store is complex: large catalogs, B2B pricing, ERP or 3PL integrations, custom checkout or discount logic
  • Another developer told you it can’t be done, or left the store half-finished
  • You want one engineering team for years, not a new agency for every project
  • Your in-house team needs senior Shopify capacity without another hire

Not the right fit if…

  • You want a ranking or a conversion lift written into the contract – nobody can honestly promise one
  • You want headless or a custom app because it sounds advanced, when a theme or an existing app would do the job
  • You’re choosing on the lowest bid for complex work – we quote what the work actually takes, in writing
  • You mainly need ads, social or content marketing – our work is engineering, CRO and support

Questions about OUXP

People, pricing, access and where we work. Something else? Ask an engineer.

How does OUXP price a project?

We quote after we’ve looked at the store, and project prices are fixed in writing before work starts. Small theme changes start at $500, and most single customizations are quoted within 1 business day. A store audit is $2,500 flat. For migrations, the free migration assessment gives timeline and cost bands within 2 business days; the fixed quote follows a deeper review with read-only access under NDA. Retainers run $2,500–$9,500 a month, and one-time emergency work without a retainer is $250/hour with a 2-hour minimum.

Who will actually work on our store?

Senior OUXP engineers – frontend, backend, integrations or performance, depending on the job – and the engineer who answers your first message can read the code. Retainer clients get a direct Slack or email channel to their engineering team. If you choose a dedicated engineer, you meet that engineer before you commit.

Do we own the code you write?

Yes – everything we write for you. Theme customizations, custom apps, Shopify Functions and integration code belong to you; third-party themes and apps stay under their own licenses. For a custom app, hosting, support and any recurring costs are agreed in writing up front, so nothing surprises you later. At handover your team gets the documentation it needs to maintain the work or pass it to another developer.

Will you sign an NDA, and what access do you need?

Yes – we can sign your NDA before you share store access or confidential details. Many first steps need no access at all: the free migration assessment works from your live storefront and a short form. A fixed migration quote uses read-only access under NDA, emergency work starts with read-only diagnosis, and nothing changes on the live store until you approve it. Never send passwords or customer data by email.

Do you work with brands outside the United States?

Yes. We’re based in Los Angeles and work with brands across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia – CleanFlow, for example, sells across Canada and the US from one Shopify storefront in CAD and USD. Business hours are Mon–Fri, 9 AM–9 PM ET (6 AM–6 PM PT). Every request gets a first response within 30–60 minutes in that window, and the emergency line is open 24/7.

When was OUXP founded, and when did you become a Shopify Plus Partner?

OUXP, a Shopify Plus Partner since 2019, was founded in 2011 in Los Angeles – before Shopify Plus existed. Our Shopify Partner Directory listing (external site) shows the partner status, rating and reviews. Since 2011, the team has built up 15+ years of commerce engineering on Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Shopify. Today our work centers on Shopify and Shopify Plus, including migrations from the other five platforms.

What does OUXP stand for?

OUXP is the short form of our full name, Outstanding Experience. You’ll see both in public records: some merchant reviews on the Shopify Partner Directory refer to ‘Outstanding Experience’, and our Upwork agency profile is listed under that name. Both are the same company – a Shopify Plus agency founded in 2011 in Los Angeles.
